Many say that "love is a feeling, that you feel, when you feel a feeling, you've never felt before." What happens when you don't feel that feeling anymore?
I always wanted to have a girlfriend but wasn't sure what I wanted out of a relationship. " Yeah! She have to look good and know how to dress", I thought to myself but that didn't cut it. I wanted more that!
I saw my brothers and how they flexed with their girlfriends and what stood out to me was the fact that both parties in the relationship were giving and understanding, in spite of circumstances. It wasn't perfect and that feeling that you should feel wasn't alwyas there but they decided to make it work - they persevered. That's when it hit me...love is a decision.
Love goes beyond a feeling and it's a choice we make to accept a person for who they are, valuing them as a person. With this revelation I stopped look for girls that were just hot but girls that were genuinely caring, kind and mentally stimulating among other characteristics. I was no longer looking at the cover of the book I was reading it and the more I read the more I loved it.
